There has been an increase in the number of people with personality disorders in the general population among more recent generations.
We all witness this phenomenon not only in clinical practice, but also in everyday life.
This is why the topic is so important for everyone working in the field of mental health. An increasing number of people seeking mental health services are diagnosed with personality disorders, while more and more individuals are also directly or indirectly affected by the consequences of relationships with people who suffer from personality disorders.
There are many hypotheses as to why the prevalence of these disorders, which was around 5% some 70 years ago, has risen to as much as 15–20% today. In other words, the number of people diagnosed with personality disorders has increased dramatically over the past 30 years.
The workshop has two main objectives:
*to provide participants with an understanding of the development of personality disorders and their possible developmental causes, and
*to provide participants with the opportunity to actively work on their own clinical experiences through supervision, role-playing exercises, and group discussions.
The relational experiences we have as children form the basis for the patterns of our relationships later in life.
Our view of the world is shaped by our life experiences, most of which occur during childhood. These experiences interact with our innate genetic predispositions and later form the foundation of personality development, including both temperament and character.
For these reasons, we believe it is important to approach the understanding of psychopathology from the perspective of psychological development throughout childhood.
This workshop, grounded in the theory and methods of integrative psychotherapy and transactional analysis, will come to life through the dialogue and relationships we build with one another.
As Carl Rogers said, “It is the relationship that heals…”
...and the German psychiatrist Tilmann Moser added,“…disciplined through method.”
Therefore, we will work in a relational way, drawing on the theory and methods of the psychotherapeutic approaches mentioned above.
This workshop is open to all mental health professionals, including psychotherapists from all therapeutic approaches and schools, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and special education professionals, as well as to anyone currently training for a career in the field of mental health.
